Jimmy edgar, god is with us
Press release
Sitting Room Gallery is pleased to present the opening of god is with us, a solo exhibition by Jimmy Edgar. In recent years, Jimmy has expanded his practice across multiple mediums including sound, AI, painting, and digital processes to build a conceptual language rooted in transformation and perception. His enduring exploration of technology, sensuality, spirituality, and metamorphosis continues in this new body of work.
This new series of text-based paintings captures the pulse of contemporary culture, where language, code, and desire converge. Jimmy reimagines his relationship with the internet, social media, and large language models as a form of alchemy, turning data into feeling, irony into revelation. The works oscillate between sincerity and satire, playfully reflecting society’s discomfort with the accelerating intimacy between humanity and machine. Through symbolic motifs and linguistic provocation, god is with us invites viewers to question what divinity means in a post-digital world and whether technology itself has become the new altar of belief.
Jimmy Edgar (b.1983) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in New York. His practice dissolves the boundaries between technology and consciousness. Emerging from the Detroit electronic scene, his work has evolved into a meditation on transformation, where sound, image, and data become vehicles for metaphysical inquiry. Through AI systems, digital processes, and text-based abstraction, Jimmy constructs worlds that examine desire, control, and transcendence in the posthuman age. His aesthetic precision is both ritualistic and ironic, merging the sacred with the synthetic. Across all media, Jimmy’s work proposes technology not as an external tool but as an existential phantom of spirit. He is a mirror through which energy, language, and code reconfigure the nature of creation itself.
